What is PRP?
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is an autologous (your own) concentrated preparation of platelets and the associated growth factors in a small volume of plasma. Platelets are a natural source of a number of growth factors in their natural and biologically-determined ratios. Those growth factors are like signal callers that give instructions to your tissue to regenerate and multiply.
How is PRP obtained?
PRP is prepared by drawing a small amount of blood from the patient. This blood is then centrifuged (a high-speed spinning process) to separate the Red Blood Cells from the Plasma. Once the platelets are concentrated within the plasma, they can be applied to the patient’s skin or injected. Natural activation by the patient’s own immune system causes these platelets to release essential growth factors and signaling proteins, which are responsible for the wound-healing process. They all contribute to new blood cell growth, collagen formation, cell production and the repair of injured tissues.
What are the benefits of PRP use?
When used for skin rejuvenation post microneedling or laser treatment, PRP can help promote collagen growth, regenerates tissue, and will intensely expedite the healing process. Microneedling is done with a small hand held device called the Eclipse MicroPen. This device allows the provider to deliver tiny controlled punctured wounds to the patient’s skin. These micro-wounds trigger the body to produce new collagen and elastin. This procedure is used to improve skin texture and reduce appearance of pores, wrinkles, stretch marks, and acne scars. It increases plumpness and promotes full rejuvenation of the skin. Micro needling can be done alone, however when performed with PRP, your results are magnified and your recovery process is much quicker.

When used for hair restoration, extremely high concentrations of biologically active growth factors within the plasma modulate pathways of tissue repair and inflammation in the scalp. Your own growth factors within the PRP obtained and native stem cells work together to reverse the miniaturization of the hair follicle and jumpstart dormant hair back into the growth stage
Hair restoration treatments with PRP are recommended 1x/month for 4 months and then every 6 months for maintenance. The results are a cessation of hair shedding within the first 1-2 months, hair thickening within month 2-4 and new hair growth between months 3 and 6.
