Dermal Filler (Cheeks, Chin, Jawline, Nasolabial Folds, Temples)
Pre & Post Care

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • Minimize bruising by avoiding aspirin, ibuprofen/NSAIDs, fish oil, vitamin E, alcohol and blood thinning agents
  • Try to arrive to your appointment with clean skin and no makeup if possible
  • Inform your provider if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have autoimmune conditions, or have had recent treatments to the area
  • Avoid dental work and vaccines within 2 weeks before treatment
  • Consider taking arnica 1-2 days before treatment and continuing for several days after to help minimize bruising and swelling. Avoid use if you have liver disease.

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

For the first 24 hours after treatment:

  • Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, and excessive heat exposure
  • Avoid makeup and keep the injection sites clean
  • Apply a cold compress as needed for 15 minutes every hour to reduce swelling
  • Sleep with your head slightly elevated to reduce swelling

After the first 24 hours:

  • Avoid excessive pressure on the treated areas, including facials, facial massages, guasha, or sleeping directly on the treated areas for the first 2 weeks

POSSIBLE EXPECTED SIDE EFFECTS

These side effects are temporary and can take up to 2 weeks to subside

  • Mild redness, swelling, bruising, and tenderness
  • Uneven or asymmetrical appearance due to swelling
    • Although filler results are immediate, swelling may account for much of your initial results.

WHEN TO NOTIFY YOUR PROVIDER

  • Increasing redness, warmth, or signs of infection
  • Severe or worsening pain
  • Skin discoloration or blanching
  • Vision changes
  • Persistent unevenness or firmness after 4 weeks

Dermal Filler (Lips) Pre & Post Care

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • Minimize bruising by avoiding aspirin, ibuprofen/NSAIDs, fish oil, vitamin E, alcohol and blood thinning agents
  • Try to arrive to your appointment with clean skin and no makeup if possible
  • Inform your provider if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have autoimmune conditions, or have had recent treatments to the area
  • Avoid dental work and vaccines within 2 weeks before treatment
  • Consider taking arnica 1-2 days before treatment and continuing for several days after to help minimize bruising and swelling. Avoid use if you have liver disease.
  • If you are prone to cold sores (oral herpes simplex), take your antiviral medication as prescribed, which is generally means starting 1-2 days before your appointment.
    • Always follow your prescribing provider’s recommendations.

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, excessive heat exposure, and hot steamy showers
  • Avoid makeup and keep the injection sites clean
  • Apply a cold compress as needed for 15 minutes every hour to reduce swelling
  • Sleep with your head slightly elevated to reduce swelling
  • After 48 hours, begin rubbing your lips together for few minutes, a few times a day, to help achieve smooth results
  • Avoid vigorous sucking, kissing, and straws for 2 weeks
  • Stay well hydrated
