What is RHA Filler?
Teoxane RHA® is a type of uniquely designed dermal filler. It can be defined by two major components: the hyaluronic acid (HA) formula, and the treatment of dynamic wrinkles.
While not entirely new to the game, RHA (Resilient Hyaluronic Acid) was made available in the U.S. in 2020, and continues to change and challenge the filler space.
What Is RHA Filler Used For?
First, it’s important to understand the difference between static and dynamic wrinkles:
- Static wrinkles are always visible on the face, regardless of any resting or movement. These wrinkles are best treated with dermal fillers.
- Dynamic wrinkles are visible when making facial expressions and other movement in the face. These wrinkles are best treated with neurotoxins like Botox.
This is what makes Teoxane RHA® different from other dermal fillers, because it’s designed to treat dynamic wrinkles – an area that has historically been dominated by neurotoxins.
How Does It Work?
While some fillers have the stigma of producing stiff, unnatural results when the face is moving, RHA filler does quite the opposite.
To avoid that typical feeling of stiffness, RHA works alongside and adapts to your regular, day-to-day facial movements, providing a more natural look when both at rest and in motion.
To further achieve that natural look, RHA is formulated to closely match the body’s natural hyaluronic acid (HA) in the skin. The HA found in this particular filler works to provide more moisture, volume, and structure to help smooth and refresh injected areas.
Where Can It Be Injected?
Due to the well-formulated structure of the filler, RHA can be injected nearly anywhere dynamic wrinkles and folds appear on the face. It can also treat any area of volume loss, similarly to all fillers.
Common areas for RHA to be used on are:
- Nasolabial Folds (creases that extend from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth)
- Marionette Lines (creases that extend from the corners of the mouth down to the chin)
- Lips
- Cheeks
- Forehead
- Chin
Why Choose RHA Over Other Fillers?
Just like people, not every filler type is made the same. They have different uses, formulas, methods of working, and so on. So while your initial question may be “Why should I choose RHA over the filler I usually get?”, a better question would be “Which filler will best help achieve my goals?”.
